Imran Khan, the winning candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is all set to form a government with the support of the allies. Khan who was inching close to form a government in Pakistan with the support of allies and independent even as multi-party called a joint strategy over rigging the elections and rejected the resulted polls with a demand of reelection again in the country. The meeting in Islamabad was chaired by PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) president Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The opposition ranging from allies, multi independent party threatened for country-wide protest for a free and fair election.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has bagged 115 of the 270 National Assembly seats on which the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s (PML-N) secured 64 seats and former President Asif Ali Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) with 43 seats and the independent candidates won 13 seats, according to the Election Commission which issued results for 267 seats.

Pakistan’s National Assembly consists a total of 342 members of which 272 seats are elected directly. The party with a majority of having 172 seats or more can form a government of its own direction. PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif reiterated his party’s allegations, saying the polls had been “stolen” and the “tainted and dubious” results would cast a “bad impact” on the country’s politics, According to a number of his party leaders who visited the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi to meet him.

“It has been decided to reject the elections of July 25 because these elections are not based on the mandate of the people. The people have been robbed of their mandate,” PML-N President said. “We demand that new elections should be held and we will hold protests in the country for new polls,” he said. The meeting was attended by Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq, Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair, Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, National Party’s Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo and several MMA leaders.
