After grand success of his previous film Gully Boy, Ranveer Singh is all set to portray legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in his upcoming movie 83. The story is about the world cup winning team of India in 1983 and Ranveer will be playing the captain of the team. Ranveer has always said that playing a sports character has always been his dream and he will be always thankful to director Kabir Singh for giving him this opportunity.
Kabir recently in an interview talked about various aspects and characters of the movie. Talking about how loud and energetic Ranveer Singh got into the character of calm and relaxed Kapil Dev, Kabir said that he has worked really hard on adopting it.
He said, ”
I think that is what we call acting — where you have to suppress your own personality and get into the skin of your character. I think Ranveer has worked really hard for the film. He adopted a long training routine for the film.
Kabir further said, “He had to look like a cricketer and he had to imitate the bowling action of Kapil Dev, which is a very iconic action. I think Ranveer is one such actor who enjoys the process of acting more than the results”.

Cricketer Kapil Dev is also very excited for the film and can’t wait to relieve some memories through the film. He had earlier praised Ranveer Singh for his hard preparations and has said that it’s good that sports biopic are happening in the country. In his words, “He (Ranveer Singh) has such great energy. I know that he will give more than 100 per cent to the film and the entire team will make this film a success.”
In the film, Deepika Padukone will be seen in the role of Kapil Dev’s wife. Supporting actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk and Jatin Sarna will be seen in important roles.
