Apple’s iPhone 12 series smartphones were launched back in the month of October this year. A new report has stated that the iPhone 12 is now the best selling 5G  smartphone of 2020.

A report of Counterpoint Research states that iPhone 12 became the world’s best-selling 5G smartphone model in the month of October despite the launch delay and that resulted in only two weeks of sales in that month. The report further added that iPhone 12 Pro that was launched along with iPhone 12 was the second-best selling 5G model for the month. iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro together captured close to one-fourth of the total 5G smartphone sales in the month of October.

The report said that iPhone 12 entered the top 10 bestseller list of 5G devices for the duration of January to October 2020 and it stood at the 7th spot. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, which was the best-selling device in the month of September, went down to the third position. The research and analysis firm also mentioned the reasons why iPhone 12 achieved this spot. According to the analysis, there is a huge pent-up demand for 5G upgrade and mainly within the iOS base and this is now getting converted into sales.

The report said that China and Japan was able to see strong demand for the iPhone 12 series. In comparison to most of the other 5G models, that have a regional presence, iPhone 12 had a large market coverage. It is available in around 140 countries which also helped a lot in sales.

In terms of overall sales, iPhone 12 was able to grab 16% market share and iPhone 12 Pro was able to grab 8% market share if the top 5G smartphones in the world are concerned. The phones were followed by Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, Huawei Nova 7 5G and Huawei P40 5G on third, fourth and fifth spots with 4%, 3% and 3% market share in total.
