New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Thursday announced that eligibility criteria of scoring a minimum of 75 percent in Class XII have been relaxed for taking admission in the Indian Institute of Technology(IITs) this year.

He took to microblogging site Twitter and wrote, “Announcement. After careful consideration, it has been decided that #JEEAdvanced will be held on 3rd July 2021 and the eligibility criteria of scoring 75% marks have been waived off for the ease of students.”

The step has been taken due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic which has affected the studies and halted classroom education.

Ramesh Pokhriyal informed that The Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) Advanced 2021 will be conducted on 3rd July 2021 and it will be held as a computer-based test. This year JEE (Advanced) will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur.

Earlier on Thursday, he tweeted, “Dear Students, I will be announcing the eligibility criteria for admission in #IITs & the date of #JEE Advanced today at 6 PM.”
