The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the revised syllabus for upcoming academic session 2021-22 board exams. The syllabus has been divided as per the two terms of the year.

This revised syllabus has been designed in such a way that it compliments the new exam pattern devised for Class 10 and 12 which was announced by the Board earlier this month.

CBSE says that this new exam pattern and revised syllabus are being implemented as an one-time measure to avoid the cancellation of exams again in the next session.

This measures will help to increase the probability of conducting exams for both Class 10 and 12. The Board will make advance preparations this year in case the speculated third wave of COVID-19 pandemic hits the nation.

The Board has introduced a rationalized syllabus for classes 9 to 12, an alternative academic calendar and a revised curriculum as the changes for upcoming academic session, based on the inputs from NCERT.

CBSE has also revised the terms for credibility and distribution of marks between different types of assessments. The Board has considered to prioritize the internal assessments, practical exams and project works in overall evaluation.

The new term-wise syllabus also consists of a special scheme for internal assessments, practical exams and project works which is designed separately of this session.

According to the Board, the Internal Assessments will be conducted throughout the year and every type of assessment will contribute equally to the final results at the end of a term.

The schools will be responsible to use fair, reliable and transparent methods for internal assessments. The evaluation carried out by teachers must be only based on the performance of students.

Also as per the instructions of CBSE’s Examination department, the schools must present/submit satisfactory evidences at the regional office used during internal assessments.

The question paper patterns for both Term 1 and Term 2 exams have also been changed by the Board. The paper will mostly consist of MCQs, reasoning-based short questions and situation-based long answer type questions.
