What’s new?
Remember the RC16 GP racing machine? The Atlantic Blue shade is derived from that legendary sports bike. Just like a typical KTM bike, it is available with orange panels and similarly coloured alloy wheels as standard.
In terms of features, it is loaded with an all-LED lighting setup, cornering ABS, Akrapovic exhaust system, lean angle sensor, traction control and multiple ride modes including Rain, Street and Sport.
Hardware
KTM claims that the all-new 890 Duke R weighs around 166kgs (dry). To make it more performance-oriented, the Austrian bike manufacturer has decided to offer an adjustable WP Apex suspension setup that improves the overall rideability.
For enough stopping power, it comes equipped with a 320mm front disc. At the back, a 240mm disc does its job quite well. Another interesting bit about the updated bike is that it is available with a 14-litre fuel tank.
Engine & Powertrain
From the beginning, KTM has deployed a powerful 889cc twin-cylinder engine on this bike. Interestingly, according to the spec sheet, the overall output produced from this power unit is rated at 121 horsepower and 99Nm while being paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
Usually, powerful bikes are equipped with an anti-hopping clutch. Thankfully, even 890 Duke R is also available with a similar feature.
Alternatives
Globally, KTM 890 Duke R compares with other middleweight roadsters such as Triumph Street Triple RS and Yamaha MT-09 SP. Want to learn more about this segment? Let’s check out the all-new Street Triple RS down below.
