Everyone’s wait has come to an end as Audi has finally launched the all-new e-Tron GT and e-Tron GT RS in India with a price tag starting at Rs.1.80 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Of course, the pricing after all sorts of subsidies is quite disappointing. But, the excitement among the enthusiasts still remains undisturbed because of the massive numbers Audi e-Tron GT RS has got to offer. Planning to protect mother nature? To begin with, the all-new Audi e-Tron GT comes with four doors that makes it a practical sports car. The front profile of it comes with a honeycomb grille that looks futuristic. Also, there’s a stylish set of Matrix LED headlights, sloping roofline, dynamic swipe indicator, etc depending upon the model. The standard e-Tron GT runs on ally wheels ranging between 19 to 21-inches while it is the RS variant that sits on large 21-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

Available with four doors, it is practical enough to seat four people easily. The dashboard has been slightly tilted towards the driver’s seat. Therefore, several features including a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, three-zone climate control and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system is available as standard.

The RS variant is slightly loaded with Bang & Olufsen surround sound system, all-wheel steering and adaptive air suspensions. The German brand has also decided to offer several optional features such as the brand’s laser light, carbon fibre roof, ceramic brakes, etc to name a few. Some additional packs including the Black styling pack, RS styling pack and Sports Seats Pro pack are also available for further customisation.

Other features

The boot carrying capacity for both – the Audi e-Tron GT and e-Tron GT RS is rated at 405-litres. For occupants safety, it comes packed with 9 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Park Assist Plus and ADAS.

Powerplant

Powering the standard e-Tron GT are twin electric motors that produce a decent 523BHP and 630Nm of peak torque. Since it is the entry-level variant, therefore, a 0-100kmph sprint from the same is rated at 4.1 seconds.

There’s even a powerful variant known as the e-Tron GT RS that comes with an overall output of 637BHP and 830Nm. According to the brand, it is a sportier derivative of the standard e-Tron and hence, is truly capable of clocking a triple-digit speed in just 3.3 seconds.

Both the variants are currently offered with an 85kWh battery pack. The first one returns a WLTP claimed range of up to 500kms while the overall range from the second one is between 400kms-481kms.

Charging

There’s a standard 11kW battery charger available that is capable of charging the battery from 5-80 percent in 9.5 hours. Also, the carmaker has decided to offer an optional 22kW that does the same in around 5 hours.

Users who are in a hurry can also use a DC charger of 270kW that juices up the battery pack from 5-80 percent in just 22.5 minutes.

Alternatives

Currently, there’s no direct rival to the e-Tron GT. In the near future, this all-new range of sports cars will compete against the likes of Porsche Taycan.
