The all-new Volkswagen Taigun has finally arrived in India with a price tag starting at just Rs.10.50 Lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi). Variant

Available in two trims – Dynamic Line and Performance Line, the all-new VW Taigun can be further classified. The first line is divided into three variants including Comfortline, Highline and Topline. Meanwhile, it is the Performance Line that comes in two variants, precisely – GT and GT Plus.

Exterior

On the outside, Volkswagen Taigun remains identical to the Kushaq except for some new panels including larger LED headlamps, twin slat grille and a reprofiled bumper on the front end. The rear end also gets some differentiating elements in the form of excessive chrome highlights. According to the brand, the top-end variants of the Taigun runs on large 17-inch alloy wheels.

Multiple exterior shades including – Curcuma Yellow, Carbon Steel Grey, Candy White, Reflex Silver and Wild Cherry Red.

Interior & Safety Aids

Inside the cabin, the all-new Volkswagen Taigun feels premium in terms of fit and finishing. For starters, the dashboard is neatly finished with a multi-functional steering wheel, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, large AC vents, automatic climate control and a fully digital instrument cluster. Readers should note that the entry and mid-level variants are available with an analogue instrument console. There’s even a wireless charging pad, cooled glovebox, electric sunroof and multiple USB Type-C charging ports on offer depending upon the variant.

For occupants safety, Taigun is loaded with up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child seat mounts among others.

Engine

The entry-level variants of the Volkswagen Taigun come with a potent 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The overall output from this unit is rated at 115HP and 175Nm while being paired to either a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox.

Talking about the top-end Performance Line of the same, it comes powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out a massive 150HP and 250Nm of peak torque. This unit is also available with cylinder deactivation technology which aids in overall fuel efficiency. According to the spec sheet, transmission duties for the 1.5-litre motor is managed either by a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
