When Ford Endeavour was recently launched in India, the model received a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel variant with a massive 10-speed automatic transmission system. As per the recent reports, the company is planning to launch the global model will soon, and will be equipped with a 2.3-litre petrol engine as compared to 2.0 litre turbo-diesel engine used in Indian variant.

The bulky SUV, which was sold in the highest gross limit in other markets, has also been selling well globally and proved to be best model so far by the company. The model popularly known by its nick name “Endy”, has recently received its BSVI update in India due to the upgradation of norms by government organisation. Due to the upgradation in the model, which brought in a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with an optional 10-speed automatic transmission.

When the new model was introduced in the country back in January, it came at a base price of Rs 29.55 lakh which was the ex-showroom. When the SUV was previously sold, it came with the configuration of 3.2-litre five-cylinder and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. Even it should be kept in mind, that diesel engines aren’t preferred and that much popular in the international markets.

Just like the India model of Endy, most of the international markets will currently equipped with the same 2.0-litre petrol engine. If we will look at the current petrol engine, it is reported that engine will be replaced with a 2.3-litre petrol engine coming months. The current engine that drives the Ford Endeavour churns out a maximum power of 244 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm which is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system.

On the other hand if we go by the data in reports, the new-upcoming 2.3-litre engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 271 bhp and a peak torque of 455 Nm which is mated to the new 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. It will prove to be a straight competition to the India-spec Toyota Fortuner which is available on both petrol and diesel engine options. Even the Ford Endeavour will compete against models like the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Isuzu MU-X.
