Lexus in the first place introduced NX to take on some well established German rivals such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. The carmaker might have placed its entire bet on the Lexus NX but the results till now has not been so encouraging. As we know, Lexus is the luxury arm for the Toyota Group and therefore, we expect the updated SUV to do well this time.

Hopes are high from the 2021 Lexus NX. And the Japanese brand is ready to introduce it on 12th June 2021. Want to know more about it? Take a detailed look down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 2021 Lexus NX will make its global debut on 12th June with several updates.
  • The updated SUV will continue to compete with the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
  • The Japanese brand will no longer use the ‘L’ badge on the tailgate as a part of the update.

Exact details regarding the upcoming Lexus NX will be revealed on the day of its unveiling. However, as per the image teased, we expect some major changes on the rear profile of the SUV and that is confirmed. To begin with, Lexus has ditched the ‘L’ badging from the tailgate. Instead, letters stating ‘LEXUS’ will now replace that. Similarly, a subtle roof spoiler with brake lights incorporated on it will enhance the sportiness of the upcoming NX to a great extent.

The current generation Lexus NX that is available in India comes with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. Interestingly, the 300h Luxury variant is truly capable of churning out 194BHP of power and 210Nm of torque with a decent mileage of somewhere around 18kmpl. In terms of performance, it can do a 0-100kmph sprint in 9.2 seconds and the top speed from the same stands at 180kmph.

Lexus NX was initially launched as a comfortable tourer. Keeping that in mind, the carmaker offered several features such as a 14-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system, two-zone climate control, active sound control, 4.2-inch multi-information display and 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system among others. The updated SUV is expected to get better features. However, it’s time we stop assuming and wait for the carmaker to reveal it on the 12th of June.

Alternatives

BMW X3 still comes with the best in class build quality. But now, it is even available with a refined 1995cc diesel and 1998cc petrol engine on offer. To be precise, this overall package from the German brand has made the X3 a value for money deal. However, the features such as a large panoramic sunroof, multifunctional steering wheel, 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system and LED headlamps have further helped the carmaker to sell a decent number of them in India.
