The Land Rover Defender is the ultimate off-road machine, designed to handle every kind of terrain. Its powerful engine, higher ground clearance and robust suspension setup make it a perfect companion if someone is looking for a perfect day out.

The news is Land Rover wants every Indian to take some time out from their conventional routine and travel those roads that are less travelled with their family. As a result, Defender 130 has made its way to India with a price tag starting at Rs.1.30 Crore (ex-showroom, pan India) onwards.

So, what this product is all about? Let’s take a look at the details related to the all-new Land Rover Defender 130 below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Land Rover Defender 130 is now launched in India.
  • It is available with an eight-seater (2+3+3) layout.
  • It will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants.

Exterior

Already available in 90 and 110 models in India, the all-new Defender 130 is the newest of all with extra space for occupants as well as luggage. Land Rover also boasts that the underpinnings of the Defender 130 are exactly similar to what of the 110 but the extra overhang at the rear differentiates it from the original counterpart. Of course, the departure angle has been compromised but at the cost of extra space.

Interior

That’s something worth talking about on the all-new Defender 130. Starting with the seating layout, it is an eight-seater configuration separated into three rows in a 2-3-3 setup. The automaker has also introduced twin sunroofs for an airy feel inside the cabin. Thankfully, the boot space has also improved dramatically when compared to the Defender 110.

Even the dashboard is similar to the other two models. The result is an 11.4-inch Pivi-Pro touchscreen infotainment system that proudly sits at the centre. Other features such as a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, electrically adjustable seats and connected car tech to name a few.

Engine & Powertrain

Powering the Defender 130 are two 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines. The first one is a petrol unit and the variant is P400 with overall output rated at 400 horsepower and 550Nm. The latter is a diesel mill (D300) with 300 horsepower and 650Nm of peak torque. Both of them are paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and as we know, power is channelled to all four wheels.

When a family is big, Defender 130 is there for the rescue but this new product surely comes with a cost. In India, it will be competing with other full-size SUVs and therefore, a hefty price tag ranging between Rs.1.30 Crores to Rs.1.41 Crores (all prices, ex-showroom, pan India) is somewhat justified.
