Award shows play a big role in pushing carmakers to bring exciting products to a particular country. To recall, the ‘Indian Car of the Year’ award aka (ICOTY) started back in 2005, when some well known automotive journalists (enthusiasts) came up with this interesting idea.

In the past few years, we have witnessed so many exciting cars and SUVs as a winner. So, what about this year? The results for 2022 is out now and for your information, it is the all-new Mahindra XUV700 that has bagged the ICOTY 2022 trophy.

The most prestigious ‘Indian Car of the Year 2022’ award went to Mahindra XUV700 for being a complete package. At the time of presentation, Dr Raghupati Singhania, Chairman, JK Tyre and Industries Limited handed over the ICOTY 22 award to Vijay Neekhra, M&M Ltd, Automotive Sector

With very tough contenders including Citroen C5 Aircross, Nissan Magnite, Skoda Kushaq, Renault, MG Astor, etc on the list, XUV700 became the ‘Indian Car of the Year 2022’.

Premium Car of the Year 2022

If S-Class is a part of the contender’s list then, the chances of winning are very high. The same happened this year, as Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been awarded ‘Premium Car of the Year 2022’ by the jury members. Receiving the award on behalf of Mercedes-Benz India was Martin Schwenk who is also the MD and CEO of the German brand’s Indian arm.

Interestingly, other luxury cars and SUVs including Aston Martin DBX, Volvo S60, Mercedes AMG A35, A45 S and GLA 35 were also nominated along with the S-Class.

Green Car of the Year 2022

Audi e-Tron has been declared the winner of ‘Green Car of the Year 2022’. At the event, this award was presented by Dr Raghupati Singhania, Chairman, JK Tyre and Industries Limited. On behalf of Audi India, Mr Balbir Dhillon accepted the award.

Apart from the e-Tron, other electric vehicles including Jaguar I-Pace, Porsche Taycan, Tata Tigor EV and Audi RS e-Tron GT were also a part of the nomination.
