It is coming to India! The German brand has recently listed the Mercedes-Benz EQS on its official website. And now, they are expected to announce the launch date soon. As told at the time of unveiling, it will act as an electric substitution to the luxury S-Class. In fact, both the cars will complement each other in terms of luxury.

Currently, EQC is the only electric car by Mercedes-Benz that is available in India. However, it looks like the carmaker is ready to expand its portfolio by introducing the upcoming EQS.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Mercedes-Benz India has listed the upcoming EQS electric sedan on its official website.
  • It will be available with a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery with a claimed range of up to 770kms.
  • The top-end EQS 580 variant will be available with two electric motors to produce 523HP and 856Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz EQS

First thing first, the German carmaker has been successful in translating the EQS Vision concept into the real world. The major highlight of this new luxury electric sedan is its length. To be precise, it is 5265mm long, 1926mm wide and 1512mm tall. The wheelbase of the EQS is itself 3210mm long.

Interestingly, these massive figures in terms of dimension could not hamper the performance of this all-new luxury sedan. The carmaker has managed to extract a drag coefficient of 0.20. Further, it is now the most aerodynamic production car in the world.

The side profile of the Mercedes Benz EQS looks absolutely rad with large wheel arches and 19-inch alloy wheels. Want larger alloy wheels? The brand also offers 20 to 22-inch alloys wheels as optional.

Inside the cabin, the dashboard will now feature the MBUX hyper screen that the company has revealed earlier. To be precise, the display stretches across the dashboard. Apart from this, it comes with a multifunctional steering wheel, large boot space, augmented reality head-up display and four-wheel steering among others.

Mercedes-Benz EQS is available with multiple powertrains. To start with, EQS 450 will get a rear-mounted asynchronous electric motor that produces 334HP and 458Nm of torque. The EQS 50 will come with a four-wheel drive powertrain. For your information, it comes with electric motors on both axles to produce 523HP and 856Nm of torque. Both the variants come equipped with a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery that results in a range of up to 770kms as claimed by the WLTP test cycle.

Performance

Performance-wise, the first one does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.2 seconds. However, the latter one with dual electric motors finishes it faster in just 4.3 seconds. As claimed by the brand, both the sedans come with an electronically limited top speed of 210kmph.
