Porsche at some point is all about luxury and sometimes it does remind you of what performance actually means. The new Panamera is a balance between both and that’s why it is known as the driver’s delight. The German brand recently introduced the all-new Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition with a price tag starting at Rs.1.71 Crores (Ex-showroom, Delhi) with some additional makeovers. The main idea behind introducing this new edition is to give a glimpse of how capable is Porsche in terms of luxury. Of course, we know that they are already a pinnacle of performance and luxury but with the all-new Panamera Platinum Edition, you will adore this brand even more.

Starting from the outside, it comes with edition specific changes including new badges finished in satin. The brand has even introduced a set of larger 21-inch alloy wheels from the ‘Exclusive Design’ program. At the rear, subtle changes in the form of tailpipes in gloss black shade is also going to grab a lot of attention. Since it is a limited-run model, Porsche has stuffed it with Matrix LED headlamps. Also, inside the cabin, it will be featuring a premium Bose Surround Sound System to maintain the exclusivity. Unlike the standard variant, this one will also get the brand’s adaptive suspension to improve the overall practicality.

Engine

In India, Porsche has introduced all the trims of the Panamera but if we particularly talk about the Platinum Edition, then the carmaker has only introduced it with the standard and Turbo S E-Hybrid variant. For your information, the Standard model is available with a 330PS, 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. Similarly, just like the normal Turbo S E-Hybrid trim, even the Platinum Edition is expected to come powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an electric motor on board. The overall output from this setup is currently rated at 700PS and 870Nm while being paired to an 8-speed PDK transmission.

Alternatives

Since there are no direct rivals to the Panamera in India, therefore, it will go head-on against the likes of several premium luxury sedans such as Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8L and BMW 7 Series among others. S-Class has always been synonymous with luxury but this year, Mercedes-Benz has really tried to reach that another peak. The updated sedan is now more premium with lots of screens on board. In terms of features, the German marque has introduced a large 12.33-inch driver’s display, 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, 64-colours ambient lighting, large panoramic sunroof, ten airbags and lots more. Under the hood, it is still available with two engine options, including 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol or a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine depending upon the individual’s choice.
