Earlier, Renault exported several units of Kiger to Nepal and this time, the brand has decided to send the next consignment to South Africa. Around 720 units of ‘Made in India’ Kiger has been shipped from the brand’s plant (Chennai) and now, we expect Renault to stretch these exports to some other countries as well.

Exterior

It is aggressive when witnessed from the front. To be precise, a muscular bonnet hood with multiple creases, wing-shaped front grille and split LED headlamps are the major reason behind the aggressive front end. The rear profile of the SUV comes with C-shaped LED taillamps alongside a skid plate that further enhances the overall road presence.

The French brand has also decided to offer several exterior shades that allow customers to personalise their Kiger according to their personal choice and preferences. The palette consists of several shades including Ice Cool White, Mahogany Brown, Moonlight Grey, Caspian Blue and Planet Grey. Interestingly, all of them are even available as dual-tone paint schemes. However, Renault has decided to offer an exclusive Radiant Red colour reserved for the top-end variant with a Mystery Black roof as standard.

Interior

Inside the cabin, Kiger features a simple dashboard layout with a multifunctional steering wheel, 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. According to the brand, this new system is now compatible with smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other features such as automatic climate control, wireless charger, keyless entry, air purifier and Arkamys surround sound system has been added for more practicality. For occupants safety, the all-new Renault Kiger will continue to comes with four airbags and ABS according to the variants.

Engine

Under the hood, it gets either a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The overall output from the first one is rated at 72HP and 96Nm while the latter one is truly capable of churning out a massive 100HP and a peak torque of 152Nm. Talking about the transmission, both of them are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Buyers who want added convenience can go for a 5-speed AMT gearbox with the naturally aspirated motor. However, the turbocharged unit comes with a CVT gearbox as optional. To alter the performance according to the requirement, three drive modes have been offered including Normal, Eco and Sport.

Price

For a price tag ranging between Rs.5 Lakhs to Rs.10 Lakhs, there are several hatchbacks available for sale. However, being an SUV, the all-new Renault Kiger has got a massive edge over others. Currently, it is available with a price tag ranging from Rs.5.64 Lakhs for the entry-level variant. Meanwhile, it is the top-end RXZ Turbo CVT dual-tone variant that goes up to Rs.10.09 Lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
