Trending news buzzing from the Indian Automotive giant, Tata motors will likely be launching its HBX SUV concept towards the end of this year that will be based on the ALFA platform. At the Auto Expo 2020, the company showcased the HBX concept which was held in early February in Greater Noida. Back in 2019, the company just debuted the H2X concept at the Geneva International Motor Show.

The HBX model was designed in such a way that it somewhat seems much more like a small off-roading SUV and is reported that most of its designs and traits will be carried forward into production unit.

The model aims to compete against Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Mahindra KUV100 and Renault Kwid. As per the reports and speculation the company is claiming to launch the model at aggressive pricing, in order to gain competitive advantage.

The HBXI model is expected to be based on the Impact Design 2.0 philosophy and  is reported to be the second model to be based on Agile Light Flexible Advanced architecture, what is called as ALFA concept. Rumours also point out that the model will be equipped with cruise control, at such an aggressive price segment and hence it becomes the most affordable passenger vehicle to be available with Cruise control. The model will feature Harman-sourced audio unit having four speakers and the main centre of attraction will be a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system mounted atop the dashboard. The infotainment system will also support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The five-seater SUV HBX will come below the Nexon and is expect to be priced between Rs. 4.5 lakh and Rs. 8 lakh (ex-showroom). As per the specifications available, HBX is expected to use a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine which is also used in the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 86 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque mated with either five-speed manual or five-speed AMT transmissions.
