Tata Nexon is undoubtedly a promising SUV from the Indian carmaker. It was first launched in 2017 with a motive to take on some well-established rivals such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. But at that time, even after the segment was far less competitive, it was never the best seller.

The updated Nexon was introduced last year and since then, it has emerged well. If talking about this month (May 2021), around 6,439 units of Tata Nexon were sold making it the second best-seller after Kia Sonet that stands at 6,627 units in terms of sales. Recently, Tata Motors has announced to delete some of the diesel variants due to lack of demand. Want to know which variants will be discontinued? Check out the details down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Four diesel variants including XE, XMA, XZ and XZA+ will be discontinued.
  • Tata Nexon is available with a 110HP, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
  • The carmaker will not be accepting bookings for these variants from now onwards.

Discontinued Variants

To begin with, four of them including XE, XMA, XZ and XZA+ are no more a part of the Nexon trim. According to the carmaker, poor demand is said to be a major reason behind the discontinuation of the above-mentioned variants.

Design & Exterior

When compared to the Nexon launched initially, the updated one does feel mature with sharp edges all around. The front profile of the compact SUV now features angular headlamps with DRLs, a revised bumper, new fog lamp housing and large air dams with tri-arrow elements.

At the back, the all-new Tata Nexon facelift comes with significant changes. To be precise, there is a big ‘NEXON’ badging on the tailgate. Apart from this, it continues to get Union Jack LED taillamps that enhance the overall look of the SUV. The side profile of the Nexon sports large 16-inch alloy wheels with body cladding and massive wheel arches.

Interior & Features

The cabin of the updated Nexon is well laid with a lot of practical elements. To begin with, a fully digital instrument cluster, floating touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel, multiple drive mode knob, electric sunroof, dedicated ‘Xpress Cooling’ button and multiple storage spaces are a part of the offering.

Engine

As mentioned earlier, we are talking about the diesel variants. Well, this way, it is currently available with a 1.5-litre Revotorq turbocharged engine that produces 108.5HP and 260Nm of torque. For transmission duties, customers can easily choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Alternatives

In India, Tata Nexon directly competes against the likes of Kia Sonet, Ford Ecosport and Hyundai Venue among others. Want to know more about its prime rival? Check out the diesel variants of Hyundai Venue down below.
