Electric vehicles company Automobili Pininfarina which is a subsidiary of Mahindra Group on Tuesday unveiled its new electric car named as Battista Batista. The car is claimed to be faster then current Formula 1 race car in its 0-100 km/h sub-two second sprint.

The hypercar revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, is claimed to be the most powerful road-legal production vehicle ever built. It can touch the speed of 62mph in just 2 seconds and can break the 250mph speed barrier with zero emissions.

“This is the most authentic and exciting automotive story imaginable. The Battista is the hypercar of the future, inspired by a legendary past,” Automobili Pininfarina CEO Michael Perschke told reporters here.

Speaking at the launch, he further talked about the potential of electric vehicles in terms of level of performance and zero emission which is the need of future.

“We aim for the Battista to be a future classic and automotive icon, writing its own page in automotive history books,” Perschke said.

The newly launched car will be manufactured in Italy in fixed number and is expected to hit the road in 2020.

Automobili Pininfarina, based in London was acquired by Mahindra group in 2015 in a EUR 50 million deal. The automobile company which has automotive design prowess with, Mahindra’s expertise in the electric vehicle segment can do wonders, looking at the future of electric vehicle segment.
