The Delhi University has postponed its final year exams to August. Initially, it was scheduled to be held from July 10. However, the Counsel told the High Court that the exams were postponed to August. It submitted the proposal to Justice Pratibha M Singh that the exams will be conducted after August 15.

The meeting was held in a video conferencing mode heard by Justice Singh. Mr. Singh wasn’t satisfied with this decision and said that “just see how you are playing the lives of children. You were not fair with the court about your preparedness for holding the online examinations. You are saying you are ready but the minutes of your meeting shows the contrary.”

The High Court will be hearing a petition filed by a group of final year DU students. They sought to withdraw the decision for the conduction of online exams for undergraduate and postgraduate students, including of the School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women Education Board.

The petitioners also asked for an alternative method of evaluation similar to the ones which took for the first- and second-year students to promote to next level.

The University’s decision came into picture after the UGC’s announcement that the university need not cancel the exams, and that it may conduct online or offline mode of exams, once the situation gets relieved.

The students reported that they faced a lot of difficulties during the mock examinations, which the university conducted through online open book examination (OBE) format. They notified that a lot of technical glitches were taking place.
