Amid exam boycott, JNU set to hold exams via WhatsApp

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration is not backing down from conducting end-term semester examinations for students despite JNU Students’ boycott and the situation of the country against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019. The situation at JNU is worsening with Administration vs JNU Students’ going nowhere with decisions and demands. Despite all, JNU is going forward with conducting the semester exams.

The JNU administration on Monday announced it is going to conduct semester exams for M.Phil and MA students at home through WhatsApp and Email. The question will be sent by teachers to the students and the students will have 21st December 2019 as the last date for submitting the answer scripts through email or images of handwritten scripts on WhatsApp or personally to the teachers.

This option does not guarantee transparency and the students can cheat but the administration is concerned about the student’s future. If the student fails to submit their answers by 21st December they will be given another chance.

The step was condemned by JNU Teachers’ Association (JNUTA) and JNU Students’ Union (JNUSU), who called it ‘Absurd’ and ‘Ludicrous’.
