Despite the University of Mumbai confirmed that admissions of Masters of Law (LLM) courses are completed without any error, Students have highlighted issues and flaws in the admission system. Although university is following strict admission rules, problems faced at student level have been reported at a large number.

The vice-chancellor and the governer of university in a statement has accepted that they had recognised the issues. In a major highlight, More then one application of a single candidate is being accepted by the varsity opposite of the rule that one students can apply for only one division of any course.

Students mentioned about a flaw that the university itself issued a notice stating that students can only apply for one division of all the vacant seats. But when the allotment lists are released, the application of students is accepted for all six divisions.

Earlier, the Law department of Mumbai university issued a notice on May 15. The notice mentioned that students who are unable to make it in the last five merit lists can apply for a sixth merit list. The sixth merit list will be last one and will alot on spot admissions for the vacant seats.

The Mumbai university offered 600 seats in six divisions of the LLM courses. This six divisions are- Constitutional and administrative law, business law, intellectual property and information technology law, human rights law, criminal law and criminal administration and environmental and legal order.

Over this issue, A spokesperson of the university in a contrary statement said that students were given the flexibility to apply for any division on the basis of availability of the vacant seats. Students were also allowed to choose more then one division. However, the notice of MU said otherwise.

The spokesperson also said that the complaints we have received against admission procedure will be first verified properly to ensure no conduct of misleading information. The whole admission procedure is computerised and has no chances of error. Also, no foul plays have been highlighted yet.
