The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has announced that it will offer an option for the enrolled students to choose the online mode for Board exams from 2022.

NIOS has mentioned that the option of offline exams will also remain available. Students can choose any of the two modes for Board exams as per their preference.

The open schooling institute has claimed that this policy of online exams will enable the students to complete their higher secondary education from the safety and comfort of their homes.

Decision for online exams

The NIOS made the decision to offer an option for online exams after immense consideration over the current situation of the pandemic and its forthcoming circumstances.

Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh, The Director of Academics for NIOS, said that we do not have any clarity over the pandemic situations and when they will normalize. Thus, the assessment process must continue in online mode to avoid any interruptions.

The Director added that the online exams will be conducted in remote proctored mode. He also mentioned that the institute aims to continue this policy in the future as well.

NIOS Virtual School

other than the online exams, NIOS has also launched its own, unique virtual school where practical classes will also be held online along with theoretical classes.

It will be a first-of-its-kind school that will have a digital library through which the institute will offer resource materials, self-learning material, and audio-video content for free.

Regarding the virtual school, Dr. Singh mentioned that the dynamic schooling program will enable the students to not only access the available content but will also make them interact with their teachers and mentors.

Although the NIOS virtual school cannot offer the environment of physical classes but can surely help the students to enhance their learning process amid the restrictions of the pandemic.
