On Wednesday, Chief Minister’s Office informed that in view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic schools and colleges in Odisha will remain closed till Durga Puja holidays. Earlier in the day, the government had also come up with  the announcement upto class 12  there will be a reduction by 30 per cent in school syllabus for the current academic session.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash stated that keeping in view the pandemic across the state the decision was taken. Safety of the students is the prime concern for us now, and the government is looking for the new guidelines to help out the students in the education. Amid pandemic, classes are being held online for the students of different class. The government had set up three committees for the purpose. The recommendation was made after the committee was set up.

On the official websites of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the new syllabus will be available for the students.

Moreover, on Wednesday Odisha registered its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 as 3,371. Education has been affected a lot amid COVID-19 and students are struggling to get their concepts cleared, for students coming from middle or low income families, getting smart phone is becoming difficult for them.
