A still from Leap Year

A decade ago there was hardly any recognition for the movies out of the romance league, and we are talking about the general Indian Cinema which was and even today is obsessed with love stories. Well, that’s not a flaw until any film weak on content earns big at the box office, then there’s gotta be a problem for sure. In between this heavy bunch of romantic dramas, there are few films which were exceptions in the genre, and hence it continues to entertain audiences even after a decade of its release.

And one such film is Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met. The 2007 film is quite popular among the masses even today, the film is still widely talked about on social media. The film’s character and the dialogues often make up to your social media feed through some quotes or through analysis. But what many of us are unaware of is that there’s one Hollywood film which seems to be inspired by JWM. Though the makers decline of it being inspired, the storyline speaks for itself.

A still from Jab We Met

Yeah! It is quite rare that Hollywood films are inspired by that of Bollywood. Though there are a few such cases, we definitely believe that the 2010 Hollywood flick ‘Leap Year’ is inspired by Jab We Met. The plot and the storyline are quite similar and seem to be inspired. Directed by Anand Tucker, the story revolves around Anna decides to travel to Dublin, Ireland, to propose to her boyfriend Jeremy. On her way, she meets Declan. They fall in love, get separated but eventually reunite and get married. The film starred Matthew Goode and Amy Adams in the lead roles.

Well, we cannot confirm that if it was actually inspired by Jab We Met, or was it just a creative clash?
