A still from Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana

A story which is united by numerous themes, a true homage to the countryside India, the film gives away a hint of the story through its title ‘Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana’ and that’s what titles are supposed to do. In summary, the film is about the characters which we find recognizable and sweet. And their community’s love for food and family, everything is summed up through this story.

It follows the story of Omi (Kunal Kapoor) who leaves London after deceiving a petty goon. He gets back to his roots i.e his hometown, Punjab where he tries to set up his family’s old Dhaba, and as time passes he rediscovers himself and confronts the reality. The most interesting part of this film is how it unites different themes and connects it perfectly to the plot.

A scene from the film

The story weaves all the characters, and each one of them has a backstory that explores the concerns of life but keeping the humorous side intact which keeps the viewers engaged. There’s a scene before the intermission which is the point of convergence as an important character Daarji returns to the Dhaba reliving his old memories, and that’s the time when he recalls his grandson Omi, these turn out to be his last moments. But it’s a point of change in the nature of our protagonist as he begins a journey of self-discovery.

The film stars Kunal Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Rajesh Sharma, and Vicky Kaushal. The film is directed by Sameer Sharma.

A film that definitely deserves a watch!
