Elli Avram is currently promoting her upcoming web-series ‘The Verdict: State Vs Nanavati’. Elli is playing one of the leads in the series, named Sylvia Nanavati. The series is created and produced by Ekta Kapoor and stars Manav Kaul, Elli Avram, Sumeet Vyas and Viraf Patel as main leads.

Elli recently sat for an interview and talked about her experience playing such an important role in the series.

Talking about how excited she is on releasing the series, Elli said, “I’m very very excited about this that the verdict state Vs Nanavati is now finally releasing on Alt balaji and Zee5 on 30th of September it’s been a beautiful journey this project is very close to my heart and I really worked hard on this one really you know prepared myself for this role. I’ve given my best and it’s good that so many people have appreciated the trailer and last night also we released a song between Sylvia and Prem. I’ve got a lot of a messages from people from the industry, my friends and my family, all loving it so it feels good and of course I’m nervous but I’m really hoping that everyone will love the show and yeah I appreciate my performance”.

Talking about how she felt on reading the script, Elli said, “When I read the script, I already knew about this case and when I read our script there were some scenes where I literally asked is this really true, like that this really happened inside the courtroom and apparently it did happen. Almost 70% of our script is actually coming from archived documents like details that we are having in the script and it’s pretty amazing. You really get shocked thinking what all Sylvia for example had to face. I must say I’m really amazed by her and by Kawas and how they forgave each other and carried on in life. I mean they even left the country and moved to Canada and they continued their life together there. They could have easily divorced but they didn’t and that is so beautiful that’s really commendable I must say”.

Talking about her preparation for the role, Elli said, “For the first time I’m actually getting a very lengthy roll and I really prepared myself a lot for this character. I went and I bleached my hair and colored it more blondish, I worked on my English accent to get it more British. I worked on my body language and even created a playlist for Sylvia with all 50 songs and I used a special perfume which has a very old-school fragrance. I did all of these things just to step into the skin of Sylvia and it really helped. I could relate in some way with her but in all the other ways I had to really imagine myself being in her position. How I would feel, I had to bring out my vulnerability, I actually know of some friends of mine who have gone through a divorce, who have children as well and I understood how a marriage life is. I’ve never been married and I don’t have children, and haven’t really experienced that and honestly speaking, by getting into the skin of Sylvia I discovered so much within me which was so beautiful and I learned so much as well. I learned how easy it is to judge someone for cheating and I understood how easy it’s been to sometimes point out finger at someone for doing something which you believe is wrong but then if you put yourself into that person’s position you know you start to look at things from a different point of view and you understand that maybe there was a deeper reason for it so yeah I learned also a lot actually”.

Talking about her experience working with Manav Kaul, she said, “It was wonderful working with Manav. I had a beautiful experience working with him. I’ve learned from him as well and yes it’s been really a privilege to get to work with such wonderful actors on this show.”

On her upcoming movies, Elli said, “I am doing my debut in South in Tamil and in Kannada. I have already shot for the movies Paris Paris and Butterfly, so hopefully they will release soon. I finished shooting for another Bollywood movie which will release next year. I haven’t spoken about it so that’s why I’m not going to say which movie it is, but yeah of course I would want to do more Bollywood movies. I’m also kind of selective and don’t want to do it just for the heck of it. I want to do projects that really excite me and where the role I’m getting to do has something interesting in it, more than just being pretty face”.
