Green Book

Hollywood film ‘Green Book’ which won three Oscars three years, including the Best Picture award, is getting a re-release in India on March 1. The Peter Farrelly directorial is getting released by Reliance Entertainment.

Movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the news and wrote, “Winner of 3 #AcademyAwards… Reliance Entertainment brings #GreenBook back in theatres on 1 March 2019.”

‘Green Book’ won awards in Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay also at the 91st Academy Awards.

The film is not a biopic but inspired by true incidents about the friendship and relationship between a working-class Italian-American bouncer Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) who becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) on a tour of venues through the American South in the 1960s.

Press Trust of India quoted Mahershala Ali, “This is a perfect film for audiences around the world because it’s about people who are different and who are able to discover their similarities and teach each other things about their differences. They’re able to accept each other. These men come from very, very different worlds and they become allies.”

It is produced by Jim Burke, Brian Hayes Currie, Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga, and Charles B. Wessler.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 11 September 2018, where it won the People’s Choice Award.
