The Oscar 2019 witnessed a growth of 12% in its viewership and broke a four-year streak of declining ratings. Despite some growth in its viewership, this year’s Oscar event was the second least-watched ceremony in the history of Oscars.

The viewership of the event reached 29.6 million on Sunday, which is 12% more than last year. With only 26.5 million viewers in 2018, the 90th Oscar event witnessed the lowest viewers to date. Last year’s viewership figures were like the wake-up call for ABC and the motion picture academy.

The hostless Oscar event which took place on Sunday drew a 7.7 rating in adults 18-49 years, slightly higher than the last year’s rating which was 6.8 in adults 18-49.

The 2019 awards show, drew a 20.6 rating in metered-market households, up approximately 6% from the 18.9 last year’s telecast drew.

However, this year Oscar held with a grand event amidst controversies and ‘Green Book’ won the biggest award of the night, which is the Best Picture category.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ won four awards including Best Actor award, which is given to Rami Malek.

Indian short film ‘Period. End of Sentence’ won an Oscar for the best Documentary short film this year.

Rami won the Best Actor Oscar trophy for his film ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. The actor went to the stage and received his award and gave his acceptance speech. When he was returning after the speech, Malek fell off the stage.
