Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum opus features Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles while Padmini Kolhapure, Mohnish Bahl and Zeenat Aman also appear in pivotal roles.

The period drama is based on the Third Battle of Panipat that took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat between a northern expeditionary force of the Maratha Empire and invading forces of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali. Abdali was supported by two Indian allies— the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab, and Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh.

Produced by Sunita Gowariker under her banner AGPPL in association with Rohit Shelatkar’s company, Vision World, Panipat is slated to hit the cinema halls on 6 December this year.

On the work front, Sanjay Dutt was last seen in Prassthanam produced by his wife Maanayata Dutt. Besides Panipat, he will also be seen in Torbaaz which is about child suicide bombers in Afghanistan.

His other upcoming projects include Sadak 2 which is the sequel to his 991 film of the same name. He will also be making his debut in Kannada cinema with K.G.F: Chapter 2 where he will be playing an antagonist. He will also be seen playing an important role in war film Bhuj: The Pride of India which is based on the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
