‘Sooryavanshi’ helmed by Rohit Shetty stars Akshay Kumar in the lead. The film is a cop-drama where Akshay plays the role of inspector Sooryavanshi. The Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is not in a mood to sit back and relax. After the success of Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer ‘Simmba’, Rohit has already started to work on his next, ‘Sooryavanshi’.
Recently, Rohit shared a post on Instagram where he is seen with his team at the airport en route Goa to start filming ‘Sooryavanshi’. He wrote, “Mission SOORYAVANSHI En route Goa”.

Akshay Kumar’s character was unveiled in the post-credits scenes of ‘Simmba’ where the actor made the cameo appearance as officer Veer Sooryavanshi. It is also said that Ajay Devgn will make an appearance in the film as Singham and Ranveer Singh as Simmba. The female lead of the film is yet to be announced.
There were rumors that ‘Sooryavanshi’ is a remake of Tamil film ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’. Recently, Rohit clarified that ‘Sooryavanshi’ is neither a remake nor is it adapted from the Tamil film.
Film critic and analyst Taran Adarsh clarified it in a statement on Twitter which reads, “Rohit Shetty clarifies: News that Rohit Shetty has bought rights of a #Tamil film for #Sooryavanshi is untrue and baseless… Akshay Kumar starrer #Sooryavanshi, produced and directed by Rohit Shetty, is an original story and not inspired by any film, the statement reads.”
