Indian film director, producer, and actor, Satish Kaushik is currently directing a movie based on a real-life story of a farmer named Lal Bihari. The film is titled ‘Kaagaz’ and Salman Khan has decided to come on board as a producer and distributor.
Satish is playing a cameo in Salman’s ‘Bharat‘, and the two are working together after 16 years. They were on the sets together, when Satish narrated the gist of his directorial to the actor. Salman was quite impressed with the story and decided to bankroll the project.
A source revealed, “Satish Kaushik recently shot for a cameo in ‘Bharat’ and that’s when he narrated the basic premise of his next to Salman. At the end of the narration, Salman was blown away by the concept and decided to produce as well as distribute the film under his banner.”
The film is set in Uttar Pradesh and based on a farmer named Lal Bihari, who was declared dead on paper. His relatives did so with the help of a corrupt officer in order to snatch away his land. Later on, he decided to challenge the corrupt system and prove everyone that he is alive. Pankaj Tripathi has been roped in for the role of Lal Bihari.
The shooting of the film has already started in October last year in Sitapur district of UP. A big part was shot by November 2018.
Beside Pankaj, the film also stars Nishant Kaushik and Monal Gajjar. According to the source, Satish has lived with this subject for almost a decade. He had planned to make a film on the same premise with Anil Kapoor in the lead earlier, however, things didn’t materialize.
