2018 has ended and if we take a look back, go through memory lane and refresh our memories of last year we will know that it was a wonderful ride for Bollywood. From emotions, drama, controversy to thriller, action, and mystery, everything was in it. The year started with one of the biggest Bollywood controversies and ended with a blockbuster, interestingly both had Ranveer Singh in it.

Sanju

The first highest grossing Bollywood movie of 2018 is Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Sanju‘, which was a biopic, based on actor Sanjay Dutt‘s life. The film collected Rs 586.85 crore worldwide and was appreciated widely for Ranbir’s acting.

Padmaavat

The year started with ‘Padmaavat‘ controversy, all over the nation by Rajput Karni Sena. The film which was supposed to end 2017 fantastically, but instead ended up starting 2018 with chaos, which led the public to the theatres and the film became the first blockbuster of 2018. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor starrer earned Rs 585.87 crore worldwide and became the second highest grossing movie of the year.

Thugs of Hindostan

Thugs of Hindostan‘ is the third highest grossing film which is still running in theatres in India as well as in China. Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer is a flop. The most expensive film of Bollywood ‘TOH’ received negative reviews and very bad word of mouth.

However, the film is a commercial success as it has managed to collect Rs 335 crore worldwide.

Race 3

Salman Khan starrer ‘Race-3‘ became the fourth highest grossing movie. This one was the third installment of the ‘Race’ trilogy, which has its most essential part missing, that was, Saif Ali Khan. The film earned Rs 303 crores in its lifetime.

Baaghi 2

Tiger Shroff‘s ‘Baaghi 2‘ is also in the top 10 highest grossing film of 2018 and this one stands fifth in the list. Its lifetime income is Rs 253.18 crore.

Simmba

Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer released just a week ago and made it to the list of top highest grossing movies of 2018. The film became Ranveer’s biggest opener and Rohit Shetty’s eighth consecutive movie to enter 100 crore club. The film is receiving admiration and positive reviews from all over the world. However, the film is still running in theatres, it has collected Rs 248.31 crore worldwide so far.

Hichki

Rani Mukerji had a strong comeback this year, with ‘Hichki‘. It was loved and appreciated by all and did a great business. The film stands seventh in the list of top 10 highest grossing film of 2018, with Rs 239.79 crore in its account.

Badhaai Ho

Badhaai Ho‘ which recently exited cinema houses did a successful business even after the release of ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’. It became the eighth highest grossing film this year. Ayushmann Khurrana had a good run this year. His both movie ‘Andhadhun‘ and ‘Badhaai Ho’, did exceptionally well at box office but the latter made it to the top 10 highest grossing films, with total box office collection of Rs 221 crore.

Raazi

Alia Bhatt starrer had introduced the actress to a new level of stardom. The female lead was also the central character based on real-life Indian spy which worked for RAW. The film was produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Meghna Gulzar.

The film did a lifetime business of Rs 194.06 crore and it made it to ninth place in the list of top ten highest grossing film of 2018.

Padman

The tenth in the list is Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte’s ‘Padman’. The film is still running in cinemas worldwide and it had garnered Rs 191.95 crore till date.

The R. Balki’s directorial was based on a short story “The Sanitary Man of Sacred Land” in Twinkle Khanna’s book “The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad”.

Akshay Kumar’s character was inspired by the real-life personality of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who introduced low-cost sanitary pads.
