Vikramaditya Motwane says that only Ranveer Singh can play the role of India’s first Worl Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev on screen. The movie is said to be based on the 1983 world cup. The makers of the movie say that 1983 is the greatest Indian underdog sports ever and they are very happy to make the movie with Kabir Khan and Ranveer Singh. Moreover, Vikramaditya says that it is not at all easy to portray the legendary Kapil Dev and if somebody can actually do it’s only Ranveer Singh. The movie will be directed by Kabir Khan and will be produced by Vikramaditya Motwane.
Today, Bollywood Analyst Taran Adarsh reveals that Ranveer Singh will play legendary Indian cricket caption Kapil Dev in a biopic on his Twitter account along with a caption saying, “#BreakingNews: Ranveer Singh will turn cricketer #KapilDev in Kabir Khan’s sports-based film… #1983 #WorldCup.”

Legendary Cricketer Kapil Dev is an inspiration to many and director Kabir Khan says that actor Ranveer Singh is the perfect one to play the role the Kapil Dev in the movie. He says as a young boy when he watches the Indian win in the 1983 Cricket Worl Cup at that time he has no idea that one day he will make a movie on that and from that day onwards even cricket in India will change forever.
As a filmmaker, he said that the journey is filled with the raw energy and sheer passion of that young Indian team and he says that this is one of the most exciting stories he will work on and he feels great to have an actor like Ranveer Singh on board to play Kapil Dev as he says that he can see no one else for the role, ever since he started finalizing the script.
Indian won its first cricket Worl Cup against the West Indies in 1983 and Kapil Dev was the caption of the Indian cricket team. According to the reports, the scripting of the movie has been finalized. Moreover, Kabir Khan is very much sure that Ranveer’s portrayal in the biopic will be the best and he really can’t wait to see it on screen.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh will also be seen in his upcoming movie titled ‘Padmavati’, which will be directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing her on-screen husband and Ranveer Singh will be portraying the role of an Alauddin Khilji.
The movie ‘Padmavati’ is all set to release on December 1, 2017.
