No Fathers in Kashmir

The makers of recently released film ‘No fathers In Kashmir’ released the censored portion of the film. The movie was released after much controversy and with a number of cuts by the Censor Board on April 5. The makers fought for almost 9 months to get the movie released and the board cleared it after omitting and modifying scenes as per the directions of the CBFC.

No Fathers In Kashmir‘ is helmed by India’s youngest Oscar-nominated and two times national award-winning filmmaker Ashvin Kumar.

Director Ashvin Kumar said that he was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. He claimed that the film body mutilated his film without either logic or legal justification.

About the edited scenes, the director said “What you are about to watch are scenes that they cut out. Kashmir is in a crisis of compassion. If we are to be compassionate to our fellow citizen in Kashmir, we have to start telling the truth.”

The film ‘No Fathers In Kashmir’ has been given ‘A’ certificate by the censor board. But the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) finally suggested that the film is fit for a U/A certificate after a few cuts and disclaimers are incorporated in the movie.

‘No Fathers In Kashmir’ is based on a life of A teenage British Kashmiri, Noor retraces her roots in search of her father with Majid, a local Kashmiri boy. These playful eyes of love-struck teenagers, in their search, uncover the hidden secrets of the lost fathers of Kashmir.

The film features Soni RazdanKulbhushan Kharbanda, Anshuman Jha and Maya Sarao along with Ashvin Kumar.
