Oppo 10x Lossless Zoom

Oppo started 2019 with a high note. The company launched its K1 in India with an in-display fingerprint scanner for a price less than ₹20,000. A few days ago, Oppo launched F11 Pro with a pop-up selfie camera in a price segment of ₹30,000. The F11 Pro comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and a 48-megapixel rear-mounted primary sensor. Currently, Oppo is working on the next-gen of its last year’s flagship smartphone Find X.

Oppo’s VP Shen Yiren took to Weibo to confirm that the company is working on its next flagship smartphone. Yiren shared a few key details about the upcoming smartphone. According to the VP, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Rumors suggest that the successor of Find X will be called Find Z.

Yiren also confirmed that the new device will be backed up by a 4,065mAH battery. Nevertheless, the main highlight of the Oppo Find Z will be 10x zoom technology that Oppo will be integrating into its camera. Oppo unveiled the technology at MWC last week and promised lossless image quality when zoomed up to ten times. The technology is similar to a periscope and uses an array of lenses as well as a prism to preserve the details even when the zoom is maxed out to ten times.

With the Find X, Oppo focused on delivering a smartphone with minimal bezels and an edge-to-edge screen. The Find X featured a pop-up camera module that saw the whole upper part of the device popping-up to reveal the front-facing camera. With the Find Z, Oppo seems to be focusing on improved camera experience. Oppo has recently released the 10x lossless zoom technology and it could prove to be a differentiating feature for its flagship smartphone.

Oppo, at MWC 2019, said that it will be offering the 10x zoom technology to a commercial smartphone by the second quarter of 2019. Oppo is expected to launch the Find Z around June or July, just before Samsung is expected to release its Galaxy Note 10.
