Xiaomi fast charge

Smartphone manufacturers these days are seemingly in a race to provide more and more features to their devices in order to outpace one another. One such feature is fast charging support, which has seen a wide range of integration throughout the tech market. Both Oppo and Huawei have introduced fast charging technologies in 2018, as Huawei Mate 20 Pro offered 40-watt charging speed while Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition offered a 50-watt charging speed. Now, Xiaomi has demonstrated a 100-watt charging technology that could put the prior solutions to shame.

Xiaomi CEO Bin Lin posted a video on Weibo, which was first spotted by 91Mobiles, showing a fast charging comparison between an unnamed Xiaomi device with 4,000mAh battery and what seems to be the Oppo R17 Pro. The latter phone packs two batteries totaling 3,700mAh and 50-watt charging speeds.

The video shows the Xiaomi device reaching 100-percent in just 17 minutes while the Oppo R17 Pro manages to reach 65 percent. The results are pretty impressive, given the Oppo smartphone boasts of arguably the fastest commercially available charging solution right now.

It is not the first time Xiaomi is offering fast charging tech, as evident by Mi 9, with which the company offered 27-watt wired charging, as well as 20 watt wireless charging via an optional charging pad.

As of the commercial release of the 100-watt charging solution, Xiaomi has not revealed the specific dates yet. Nevertheless, an executive seemed to confirm that Redmi devices will ship with the fast charging technology. So, the 100-watt fast charging solution is expected to come with budget-friendly Xiaomi smartphones soon.
