Police personnel from Garden Reach Police Station arrested 3 people for betting on IPL 2020 matches. This is the fifth FIR registered by the Kolkata police in relation to IPL betting.
The three have been identified as Md Shahid Haider (30), Atiqur Rahaman (43) and Md Zainul (34). Haidar and Rahman were arrested from Garden Reach and Zainul is reported to be a resident of Ekbalpore, as reported by Times of India.
Police recovered Rupees 7.52 Lakh in cash.
No connection with any gang has been revealed as of now.
In another betting racket bust, Indore Police arrested 9 people for betting on IPL 2020 matches and recovered more than Rupees 5 Lakh from their possession. Police also seized 15 mobile phones from the spot.
Zee Business News reported that, Station House Officer (SHO), Ramdin Kanwa said, “Under Kanadiya police station limits, nine accused have been arrested for betting on cricket and we have recovered Rs 5,05,000 along with 15 mobile phones from their possession.”
Kanwa added, “They used to change their locations regularly. But on Thursday they were arrested and we have recovered messages and recordings from them regarding betting. The accused were meeting at an isolated spot and based on information they were arrested by police.”
