Swedish government promulgated a new ordinance on curbing the impacts of COVID-19.

Under this ordinance, land based casino venues of Sweden have been asked to comply with more restrictions.

The Ordinance would come into effect from November 20,2020 and would be operational till February 2021.

As a precautionary measure to limit the impact of coronavirus, the authorities have asked the bar owners not to serve alcohol from 10 pm to 11 am.

According to information on website of Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA), the casinos that have license to offer liquor cannot offer the liquor in the curfew hours. The ban is temporary though.

The SGA said: “If the venue has a serving permit, games may only be provided during the time the serving permit is valid. This is stated in Section 3 of the Lottery Inspectorate’s regulations and general guidelines on land-based commercial gaming”, reported Gambling Insider.

However, the casino industry has severely criticized SGA’s and Govt.’s decision to extend the temporary ban and curfew which have strict restrictions for casinos until next year.
