Activision has always kept up the good work of offering gaming enthusiasts with a new release annually and it won’t change this year too as in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare arrives on October 5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was a huge hit back in 2007 when it intrigued the gaming community with fascinating story and gameplay. And now, as the launch date close in, the title enters Phase two of Open Beta this weekend, with cross-play enabled.

The first phase of the beta which was made available exclusively to PS4 players ended on Monday. And now, the second phase kicks-off on 19th September. But this is not it. After witnessing the gameplay on one platform in phase one, phase two offers a cross-play feature on different platforms, thereby, including Xbox One and PC players as well. For those who pre-ordered any edition of the game on these platforms, will get early access to phase two beta from September 19-20 onwards. The test then opens up to all players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC from September 2123.

Here are some important features that the cross-play brings with it:

  • Players can choose to opt-in, or opt-out of cross-play.
  • You need to create a COD Account if you haven’t already.
  • Lobbies will allow both controller and keyboard+mouse players to blend.
  • Alternatively, you can filter lobbies so that only players using controllers OR only using keyboard+mouse setups, for a more balanced playing field.
  • The aforementioned COD Account will use special identification codes to add players from other platforms to your party, ensuring you can play with friends at all times.
  • Cross-play will not be integrated into ranked play or tournaments. All other modes will support cross-play at launch.

Call of duty fans must be really excited with what Activision is bringing in with Phase two of the beta testing. Interestingly, the company’s highly anticipated title COD Mobile is also set to finally arrive on October 1, just a few days before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launch October 5.
