On Tuesday, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that the country after having secured access to a promising COVID-19 Vaccine, will begin its mass production and provide it for free to the entire population.
He informed that the country has made a deal with Swedish-British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to manufacture the Covid-19 vaccine for Australia, which will be developed in collaboration with Oxford University.
He commented, “If this vaccine proves successful we will manufacture and supply vaccines straight away under our own steam and make it free for 25 million Australians”.
The Oxford vaccine is one of five vaccines in the world to enter the Phase 3 efficacy trials. Researchers are expecting to get the trial results by the end of the year.
