Apple Music is upgrading the ‘For You’ section of the app to offer an enhanced experience. With the update coming in to provide a better personalized experience,  the For You section has started organizing music theme-wise. The update will offer recommendations in a more frequent manner compared to the older version. The update for Apple Music is reported to roll out for iPhone and iPad users on iOS 12.3 beta and for Mac users on macOS 10.14.5 beta.

According to a MacRumors report, Apple Music has been updated to offer more personalised music recommendations more often along with a theme-based experience. With the update, Apple Music will be organising music recommendations  including artists, albums, playlists, and Beats 1 episodes thematically such as ‘To Make You Smile’ and ‘Starting Early’. Users are allowed to alter the offered recommendations by Love or Disliking them.

Apple Music offers various recommendations through For You section with the help of software-based algorithms. However, it also allows users to tweak the offered recommendations in order to make it more personalised by  Love and Dislike options available at the disposal of users.

The update is rolling out on iOS 12.3 beta for iPhone and iPad users and via iTunes on macOS 10.14.5 beta for Mac users. Notably, some users running iOS 12.2 were able to spot the new feature as well. Additionally, the feature is reported to come to all Apple Music  subscribers across all platforms, including Android, in the coming weeks.

Earlier this month, Apple was reported to drop prices for Apple Music subscription to as low as ₹99 for a month, down from ₹119 and ₹999 for a year, down from ₹1119. Students from select universities can also avail it for ₹49 per month while for families with more than 5 members, the price is ₹149 per month.

While Apple might be looking forward to grabbing more share of the market by lowering its subscription plan, its peers like Spotify and YouTube Music, Saavn, and Gaana offer free service at the expense of sound quality and with ads, which Apple does not offer in any market. Given most people choose the free service, albeit, at the expense of lower sound quality, Apple does not seem to be heading the market any time soon.
