District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey demands inspection of factories to check pollution control measures taken by them

GHAZIABAD: Pollution Control Department, along with 70 district administrative officials will conduct inspections of factories to check if they are following pollution control norms.

On Friday, District Magistrate, Ajay Shankar Pandey directed the pollution control department to import training to the selected officials.

“The Pollution Control Department has only 4 members. This number is not enough to keep tabs on all the factories. Therefore, administrative officials with a technical background will assist in the inspections. These officials will undergo training in checking norms set for different industries,” Pandey informed.

“They will also check if industrial units are using instruments in their factories to reduce pollution. It has come to notice that several factories try to save electricity and manpower by not using their equipment. Factories which have still not installed pollution control units will face penalties,” Pandey added.

The DM directed the regional officer of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) to organise a meeting of factory owners of all such factories, which do not have pollution control units.

A presentation on pollution control has been prepared by the pollution control department. Each head of the various administrative wings has been directed to show it to juniors and impart training to them.

The DM has directed the regional transport office that 10-year-old diesel run vehicles don’t plu on the road.”The department has been directed to issue notices and seize their vehicles if they do not comply with it,” the DM said.
