Kapil Mishra who was a close aid of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was disqualified by Delhi legislative assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel under Anti-defection law. It was alleged that Kapil Mishra campaigned for Bhartiya Janta Party in Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in its petition had claimed that Kapil Mishra, had ‘voluntarily given up the membership of the AAP’. He was found seeking votes for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the national polls.
Kapil Mishra had filed a petition regarding the same in Delhi high court.
Two other AAP MLAs are facing similar charges of disqualification. Devender Sehrawat and Anil Bajpai have also joined the BJP during Lok Sabha polls.
