Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Friday announced that the State Government would be giving ₹5000 per acre on land to farmers on Kharif crops. A Total of ₹2250 crore will be spent under this scheme.

The scheme, Mukhya Mantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojana, would cover 22.76 lakh small and medium scale farmers in the state.

The move came in the backdrop of the farm loan waiver in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh where Congress after registering a resounding victory soon announced the farm loan waiver fulfilling its pre-poll promise.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath soon after taking writes off farm loans, similarly in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister while addressing the Press said that those having land less than one acre will be given a minimum of 5000 for the Kharif crops and that would be paid to them through a Cheque.

We will give Rs 5000 to farmers having less than one acre land for Kharif crops every year. This scheme will be named as ‘Mukhya Mantri Krishi Ashirwad Yoja’ and will be introduced from 2019-20 Budget,” he said.

“The scheme would be highly beneficial as it will double the income of the farmers as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.
