Flights

The central government will unveil the final set of rules for the official no-fly-list (NFL) on Friday. Once implemented, the flyers will have to compulsorily mention their ID number while booking the flight. These ID number can be a passport, PAN card, driving licence or aadhaar number. This is being done in order to better track the offenders to make sure they can not get on a plane if there are pending charges against them. The government is also planning to include voter ID card into the list, however, a decision on the same will be taken tomorrow.

The team of DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation) officials had held a meeting recently in Mongolia where they met officials from global aviation regulators to try and figure out the NFL list for India. Just like other countries, India is projecting safety as one of the biggest points behind implementing the no fly list. Jayant Sinha, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation had recently announced that the no-fly-list will be implemented starting Friday, September 08, 2017.

Adding more to his statement, Sinha had stated that the government took so much time in implementing the no fly list because it wanted to ensure that the people in no fly list do not fly using another name. For this, it was mandatory to implement the system of quoting an ID number at the time of booking. Adding that passport number is already mandatory for international travel, the domestic traveller quoting aadhaar number will soon start to get digital boarding passes.
