Turning up the political heat in the Maharashtra politics, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar met the interim president of Congress Party, Sonia Gandhi in the national capital on Monday evening. The meeting mainly saw the discussion of the political situation in Maharashtra.

He said, that both the parties are keeping an eye on the situation as it develops. Speaking to the reporters of Times of India, he said, “We will keep eye on the situation in Maharashtra, Congress and NCP leaders will hold further talks on the future course of action.”

It has been widely speculated that the Congress-NCP alliance can join hands with the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena to form the government. The situation has turned complex as the Mahayuti alliance- Shiv Sena and BJP is unable to chalk out a common path to form the government.

Sharad Pawar further said that those parties which fought together should choose their own paths. On being asked about the Shiv Sena claiming the support of 170 MLAs, he said that he does not have any information regarding this.

Maharashtra state has been imposed with President’s Rule since November 12 as per Article 356 of the Constitution. Earlier, a delegation of Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP MLAs was scheduled to meet the governor on the previous Saturday evening but it has been postponed.

Both parties have also formed the Common Minimum Programme to form the government.
