Raising up the tension to a higher level in Maharashtra politics, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut is expected to meet the state governor BS Koshyari along with other senior party leaders today. The meeting is slated to take place at 5 pm in the evening.

The information was confirmed by the office of Maharashtra Governor. It has been reported that Sanjay Raut will urge the Governor to invite the single largest party to form the government in the state.

The meeting becomes of crucial importance in the pretext of ongoing BJP-Shiv Sena tussle, especially after Sanjay Raut claimed that he has the support of around 170 MLAs. In such a case, it is likely that Shiv Sena will be the deciding factor in the formation of the government.

Another interesting development also came to the front when Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar confirmed that Sanjay Raut reached him via message. As quoted by ANI, Ajit Pawar said, “This is the first time after elections that he has contacted me. I do not know why he messaged me. His message reads ‘Jai Maharashtra Saheb, I am Sanjay Raut ‘. I will call him in a while to know about it“.

This news further gave impetus to the speculation of the NCP-Shiv Sena alliance.

In the recently held assembly polls, Maharashtras state went to the elections for its 288 assembly seat. Out of which, Bhartiya Janta Party won the largest number of seats- 105. Shiv Sena bagged the second position with 56 seats. Both parties fought in the coalition. However, a war emerged in the alliance as Shiv Sena is demanding the execution of 50:50 formula as iterated by Home Minister Amit Shah according to which power has to be shared between the two parties for a rotational basis.
