Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi on Tuesday said that a total of 548 candidates have filed their nominations for 25 Lok Sabha seats of the state. He added that out of all the 25 Parliamentary Seats, Nandyal Lok Sabha Seat saw a maximum for 38 Candidates filing the nomination to be in the electoral fray. While Chittor reversed seat recorded lowest nominations with just 13.

State Polls of the State is slated to be clubbed with General Elections 2019. Andhra Pradesh will vote in a single phase on all 25 Lok Sabha Seats and 175 State Assembly seats on April 11.

Apart from this, the CEO Dwivedi while revealing the details about Andhra State Polls said 3,925 candidates have filed the nominations for 175 Assembly Seat of the state. He further added out of all 175 Candidates, Nandyal Assembly constituency recorded the highest number of entries with 61 filings while Mantralayam saw only 13 nominations.

He added the last date to file nomination was Monday, March 25 till 3 pm. The forms went scrutiny on Tuesday. March 28 (Thursday) is the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

While in a major blow to the ruling party TDP, the nomination of its candidate from Kurupam (ST) constituency was rejected. TDP’s Janardhan Thatraj’s nomination was rejected by the Poll Panel after the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress complained him of submitting a fake caste certificate.

Both the parties submitted the copies of court orders before the Returning Officer stating that he does not belong to the Scheduled Tribes.

However, Thatraj’s mother Narasimha Priya Thatraj had also filed a nomination as a supplementary Candidate, she is likely to contest as the TDP’s official candidate.

In Andhra Pradesh, apart from Congress and BJP, the major Political parties are Chandrababu Naidu‘s TDPJagan Mohan Reddy‘s YSR Congress Party and Pawan Kalyan‘s Jana Sena Party who has forged an Alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

The Counting of votes for the mega battle of ballots will take place on May 23, four days after last round of polling.
