Hours after 2 MGP Lawmakers in Goa announced its merger to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Goa Governor Mridula Sinha has approved the decision of chief minister Pramod Sawant to drop deputy chief Minister and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar from Council of Ministers.

In a notification issued by the Bhartiya Janta Party-led Government in Goa, it was stated that “Ramakrishna Sudin Dhavalikar will cease to be a minister in the council of ministers headed by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant with immediate effect.”

Responding to the development, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Dhavalikar was working against the alliance, “we had requested Sudin Dhavalikar’s brother Deepak to not contest in Shiroda by-poll but he’s not ready to listen, so we have taken the decision” Sawant said as quoted by news wire ANI.

In the meantime, Dhavalikar slammed two lawmakers for merging the party with BJP. He said Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) GP is a party of the people. Whatever has happened midnight shocked the people of Goa. “At night, the chowkidars who have committed dacoity on MGP, have shocked the people of Goa” He added.

In a quick turn of events on Wednesday mid-night, two MLA from MGP – Manohar Ajgaonkar and Dipak Pawaskar gave a letter the Goa Assembly Speaker Michael Lobo at 1:45 am stating the merge of MGP legislature party with the BJP.

In a letter to Goa Assembly Speaker Micheal Lobo, MGP MLAs Manohar Ajgaonkar & Deepak Pauskar stated that ‘We have agreed to merge Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Legislative Party (MGP) with BJP. Total strength of Legislators of MGP is three members & we constitute 2/3rd of the members’

However, MGP third MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has not signed the letter. Both the Lawmakers lashed out at Sudin Dhavalikar (Goa Deputy CM & MGP third MLA) and said he should be dropped now.

Following the mid-night development, Bharatiya Janta Party strength has raised from 12 to 14, Congress has 12 Lawmakers, MGP has 1, Goa Forward has 3 and Nationalist Congress Party has 1 while 3 are independent lawmakers.
