Former education minister and AIADMK‘s OPS faction Avadi MLA K Pandiarajan in his statement to the press on Monday said that the OPS faction of the party will unite with the AIADMK(Amma) faction only if OPS is made the chief.
There were rumors that AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary T T V Dhinakaran is likely to visit the AIADMK headquarters. Speaking to reporters outside AIADMK’s OPS Faction Chief, Panneerselvam‘s residence, Pandiarajan said the “We will accept unification of the party only if Panneerselvam is made the chief of the party. There is no other way. We have the party cadre with us.”
Pandiarajan said that they have asked the government to contest the elections many times but the government has been neglecting their plea. He added that the party members are giving their full support and if the need arises, they will force an election to prove their majority.
Earlier the party had only demanded probe into a probe into former chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s death and keep V K Sasikala and her family members away from the party. It is for the first time the party has demanded something like this.
